Kate Nelson
SPACE-H Program Director, Starburst
Kate began her career conducting research in brain-computer interfaces and neuroprosthetics at USC and Caltech, focusing on solutions for paralysis, traumatic brain injuries, and movement disorders. In 2012, she founded Ludicrum Labs (now Island in Space), specializing in creating interactive systems for a variety of sectors, including robotics, biomedical devices, and entertainment. In 2020, she led the hardware development for the Los Angeles Voting System, in cooperation with IDEO. As Program Director for Space-H, Kate enjoys sharing her experience building companies while moving the needle on human performance.
