Carole Dangoisse

Dr. Carole Dangoisse is a belgo-canadian MD holding specialist registration in General Internal Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine. She works as an attending critical care consultant physician at King’s College Hospital, London U.K. She also has extensive experience in pre-hospital medicine and anaesthetics, and holds an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry.

She is currently completing an MSc in Extreme Medicine with the University of Exeter, with a specialisation in cold environments. Her thesis focuses on the use of virtual reality for training in extreme environments, including space.

In 2017, she wintered-over as Research MD for the European Space Agency, spending close to 14 months at Concordia station in Antarctica. She has since returned to Antarctica, visiting 5 Argentinian research stations in 2023 aboard the Almirante Irízar icebreaker, investigating further research opportunities for ESA. She earned a Space Studies Program certificate from the International Space University (Granada 2021), and has volunteered as a Teaching Assistant for the Human Performance in Space department of SSP24, held in Houston.

She has strong interests in aerospace medicine, with a focus on human factors and performance in extreme and isolated confined environments, having worked on various projects in this field.
