Danica Vallone
Secretary
Danica Vallone is the founder and CEO of Red Hen Industries, a Los Angeles-based design and fabrication firm for film, retail, and large-scale experiential activations. Red Hen is one of the only queer, female-owned fabrication shops of its kind, and works to build with environmental sensitivities and community outreach in mind. Clients include Axiom, Disney, Meta, Netflix, Warner Brothers, Nike, Morgan Stanley, and Samsung, among others.
In recent years, Red Hen’s rapid prototyping abilities have crossed over from the entertainment and marketing industries, into the health and aerospace sectors, leading to the birth of the Making Space Agency, a creative space agency telling the story of humans in space: past, present, and future.
As "Designer in Residence" at UCSD’s Design Lab, Danica heads an experimental research group focusing on Bionics and Human Resilience. Her design work grapples with optimistic and realistic approaches toward building more habitable futures in increasingly hostile landscapes.
Vallone also serves as Executive Creative Director for Global Effects, the largest and longest-standing provider of space-related costumes, props, and set pieces in the film industry.
As part of both the Health Brain Trust and theLearning & Society Brain Trust for XPRIZE she collaborates with leading experts to find innovative solutions to global challenges.
