Alaina Brinley Rajagopal, MD, PhD

Dr. Alaina Rajagopal is dedicated to improving patient care in diverse medical settings. Both her MD and PhD are from the University of Texas Medical Branch, where her studies were focused on public health, virology, aerospace medicine and global health. She has worked at NASA’s Ames Research Center, Kennedy Space Center, and Johnson Space Center in astrobiology, cardiovascular physiology, microbiology, and controlled biological systems. Board certified in emergency medicine, her work in various austere environments inspired her and her colleagues to invent a new method of noninvasive, continuous blood pressure measurement using ultrasound. She is Chief Medical Officer and co-founder of Esperto Medical, Inc., a startup company spun out of the California Institute of Technology, with the goal of developing medical devices for in-hospital and remote patient applications. In her spare time, Dr. Rajagopal enjoys climbing mountains, flying airplanes, acting, and spending time with family.
